Brody attended the prestigious event in a dapper black suit and bow tie featuring a striking silver brooch on one side of his suit jacket. His partner Chapman exuded the same level of class and style, looking radiant in a stunning, off-the-shoulders black gown.

Media outlet New York Post shared video footage on X showing the moment that prompted heated reactions from netizens. In their post, Brody is seen making his way to the stage after his name was called as the winner of an award.
After hugging a fellow attendee and acknowledging the Oscars crowd by blowing kisses, Brody made his way up the stairs.

He then quickly turned around, took a piece of gum from his mouth, and threw it over to Chapman, who did her best to try to catch the item. Adrien Brody then made his way onto the stage and hugged fellow A-lister Cillian Murphy.
Upon seeing this footage, netizens wasted no time in chastizing Brody for what he had done. “Adrien Brody is so gross to me now like ewww what was that [sic],” expressed an X user, while a TikToker added, “the [sic] disrespect he showed for her today is unfathomable.”
